These are the four best ultralight tents:
Tarptent Sublite Sil TarpTent makes a few different models (the Contrail is also a good alternate one person tent); Sublite is 21.5 oz., 42" peak, has a mesh vent and is supported with two hiking poles. About $200.
Gossamer The One This is the lightest tent available made of 'Spinnaker' cloth about 17 oz. A 47 inch peak. Supported by two hiking poles. Large vestibule, internal space is a bit small (17.5 sq ft). Harder to setup than the Lunar Solo, but not difficult. About $300.
Lunar Solo Six Moon Designs; This is the tent I use and I highly recommend it. 23 oz. Supported by one hiking pole. 45 inch peak. Fast and easy to setup. It has a nice size vestibule area and plenty of room inside for one person plus backpack. About $230.
Antigravity Gear TarpTent This 10 foot tarp tent is a nice simple design (i.e. no zippers to break); 23 ounes (20 oz sans the vestibule). Supported by one hiking pole. 44 inch peak. Very nice ultralight tent. About $230.
You notice one of the ways weight has been cut on these tents is that your hiking pole(s) serve as the tent poles. This works very nicely and has the added benefit of making more room in your pack. If you don't want to go as far a using a tarp, I for one don't especially in buggy areas, an ultralight tent is the way to go.
